We want our students to stretch their abilities with the amount of sight words he/she will know by the end of the year.
There is a showcase between our classrooms. We will use this to create a scene for our frog habitats.
Each week your child will bring home a list of the sight words that we worked on the previous weeks. We will ask him/her to read the words to us. We will highlight the words that he/she cannot read in 3 seconds. These are the words that they will need to continue to practice, practice, practice. Once all of the words on that list have successfully been read in 3 seconds, your child will get to put the item listed at the top of the list, on our scene, with his/her name on it. October’s object is a sun. The objects for the following months, in order, are: flower, frog, logs, turtle, bee, and ladybug. Our goal, for this activity, is to have each child have his/her name up on our scene 7 times by the end of the year. We know that each child works at his/her unique pace so this will be an ongoing activity. Each mini goal met will help them reach his/her ultimate goal for the year.
Thank you for participating by helping your child practice these words frequently.
